Samsung’s highly anticipated dual-folding smartphone, widely referred to as the Galaxy tri-fold, may be more affordable than early leaks indicated, but it’s still far from a budget-friendly device.
As per a popular tipster, yeux1122, on Naver, the tri-fold will reportedly carry a price tag of around 3.6 million won (approx. Rs691,221) in South Korea. This amount is a bit lower than the recent leak, which indicated a price of 4 million won (approx. Rs768,086).
He said the information could have come from an internal sales channel announcement but did not give any specific source for that information, and therefore the claim should be taken with caution.
Even with this reduced estimate, the rumoured price still represents a substantial premium over Samsung's existing flagship foldable.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7, for example, starts at $1,616 (approx. Rs456,669) in Korea, nearly $800 (approx. Rs226,074) cheaper.
If accurate, the tri-fold's price may still be more palatable than early expectations of a near $3,000 (approx. Rs847,778) launch, considering its upgraded hardware.
Samsung Galaxy tri-fold specifications (expected)
Leaks suggest the Galaxy tri-fold will feature a 10-inch dual-folding internal display, a 6.5-inch cover screen, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
The device is also expected to house a 5,600mAh battery and could borrow the same triple-camera setup as the Z Fold 7: a 200MP main sensor, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 10MP 3x telephoto camera.
