Despite the realm of smartphones growing with leaps and bounds over the past few years, it looks like there was still a void which HMD has filled with its unexpected launch of the HMD Touch 4G, a blend of feature phones and smartphones.

Coming out as a hybrid phone, HMD Touch 4G is an all-screen compact phone which is designed to be affordable, priced at ₹3,999 (around $45/€39).

The available colours on the HMD Touch 4G are Dark Blue and Cyan. It resembles a smaller version of the HMD Skyline.

The new HMD phone features a flat display with a chunky forehead and chin, with the latter housing a pill-shaped button. With curved sides and a flat top and bottom, its back has a cookie-shaped camera island on which a single sensor and an LED flash are planted.

What makes it a truly compact phone is its measurement: 102.3 × 61.85 × 10.85 mm, and weight: 100 grams.

When folded, the HMD Touch 4G is slightly taller than the Motorola Razr Ultra, while running a custom operating system called RTOS Touch.

The phone boasts a 3.2-inch touchscreen with QVGA resolution and is powered by the Unisoc T127 processor, paired with 64MB of RAM and 128MB of storage. Users can expand storage by up to 32GB via a MicroSD card. For photography, it offers a 0.3MP front camera and a 2MP rear camera.

Other notable features of the HMD Touch 4G include Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, dual SIM support, an FM radio, GPS, and a USB-C port. While it's backed up by only a 1,950mAh battery, HMD claims it delivers up to 30 hours of usage.

The phone also has a Cloud Phone Service for easy access to news and games, not to mention the Express Chat app for messaging and video calls.
