While most of the renowned smartphone makers are churning out AI-equipped flagships, Honor appears to have taken a disruptive leap in terms of its latest Robot Phone's camera design.

While it hasn't yet launched, Honor's impending and unconventional robot phone will reportedly feature a fold-out mechanical camera arm. The company calls this a step toward integrating AI into everyday devices.

A CNBC report stated that the design of Honor's incoming AI-powered phone, informally referred to as the “Robot Phone,” is intended to showcase the company's progress in AI and robotics' integration into consumer electronics.

The company has confirmed to be investing around $10 billion in AI development over the next five years.

A short teaser of the so-called Robot Phone surfaced online, showing the phone with a camera attached to a small robotic arm that folds out from its body. Reports making waves on the internet claim that this arm can tilt and swivel to let the camera automatically track subjects, adjust framing, and move for the perfect shot.

Word has it that the phone will have AI-powered tricks like autonomous object tracking and “self-framing,” standing out as more like a smart assistant than a regular phone.

While Honor hasn’t disclosed any technical details yet, more is expected at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona.

While the separate arm-like camera design is surely an unconventional design approach, such designs often struggle with durability due to moving parts.
