In what appears to be an indication of Elon Musk's plans to expand his Starlink factory in Texas, it emerged on Tuesday that the satellite-internet dishes maker is churning out a whopping number of 15,000 units of Starlink devices every single day.
The mind-blowing insight was disclosed in a rare behind-the-scenes video of the Starlink dish factory in Bastrop, Texas, which is reportedly planning to expand, according to PCMag.
Considering the production of 15,000 units per day, the figure amounts to around 5.5 million Starlink dishes per year.
The publication also reported that the Texas Starlink facility will expand by more than 1 million square feet this year, occupying approximately 1.7 million square feet in total after expansion.
The expected expansion also points to the company's commitment to multiplying its production exponentially. Reports that surfaced earlier also highlighted that the company was making 4.6 million dishes a year at the time.
Inside Elon Musk's Starlink factory in Texas: How robots help in manufacturing
The Starlink dishes being produced at the Texas production site are the standard ones. These involve the processing of raw plastic pellets and aluminum to craft the device's case.
While lifting the veil off the nitty-gritty around the production, the video clip shared by the company also gives a sneak peek into the extensive level of automation done by deploying robotics to compose the array antenna and printed circuit board for the dish.
