The internet is reverberating the overhyped, recently launched Huawei Mate XT, a triple folding smartphone which has seemingly outclassed the latest Samsung Galaxy Z series as well as the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold for featuring a rare form factor.
To stand out from the crowd, the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design, the premium trim of the series, comes with satellite connectivity to let users not get off the grid even in the absence of Wi-Fi and cellular data.

While satellite connectivity on the Huawei Mate XT enables users to call their friends or family in times of emergency, there's a catch: the feature works only when the device is fully unfolded.
According to the company, the device needs to remain in a “three-screen state” to make the most of satellite communication. If this is not followed, the feature may not work properly.
Since the Huawei Mate XT has employed the Tiantong satellite communication, users have the opportunity to call or send and receive text messages, while also being able to seamlessly edit the sent texts.
“Tiantong satellite communication requires activation of relevant services of the Tiantong satellite service operator. The implementation of this function is related to the service deployment of the operator. Please refer to the actual services of the local operator. To ensure flight and communication safety, please do not use the satellite communication function when the aircraft door is closed. This function is only supported in the three-screen state,” read the official description on the Huawei Mate XT page.
