Hyundai Nishat is set to reintroduce the Hyundai Elantra 6th generation in Pakistan, this time as a limited edition 2.0L petrol variant.

Notably, Hyundai Pakistan recently teased the launch on social media, showing the sedan’s signature daytime running lights (DRLs) with the Hyundai badge, along with the caption: “The glimpse was just the beginning… the real thrill is on its way.”

The teaser confirms that the petrol-powered Elantra 2.0L is making a comeback, generating excitement among sedan enthusiasts.

What to expect from Hyundai Elantra 6th generation?

The Elantra 6th generation was previously on sale in Pakistan, featuring the same 2.0L engine. However, in October 2024, Hyundai decided to focus on the Elantra Hybrid 7th generation and discontinued its petrol counterpart.

As a result of this relaunch, Hyundai will now sell variants in both hybrid and petrol, giving customers the choice.

Insiders from the car industry report that Hyundai will now assemble the Elantra 6th generation locally at its Faisalabad plant. It did not import parts for assembly like originally but will make new parts for local assembly. This is to also create trust among customers.

Interestingly enough, this model is sold in many global markets, which explains Hyundai's decision to locally reintroduce this product.

The Elantra 2.0L will have the Toyota Corolla and Honda City Aspire as its direct competitors; both govern the petrol sedans in Pakistan. Reportedly, Hyundai's plan is to fill the price bracket in the sedan category rotation, as they know many customers are not yet ready to go hybrid on both vehicles yet.
