Tesla has introduced the updated Model Y Performance in the US, which is a big step forward for fans of electric vehicles.

Although the top performance model was not released at the time, the company had started implementing the Model Y design update in January.

Tesla Model Y specifications

The Model Y Performance can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.3 seconds with an EPA-estimated range of 308 miles.

A few minor design changes include the addition of 21-inch Arachnid wheels, an enhanced suspension system with adaptive damping, and high-density battery cells for quicker charging.

The Model Y Performance's interior seats provide more comfort, with larger side cushions and powered thigh cushion extenders.

Tesla Model Y price and availability

The Model Y Performance is being introduced right before the federal tax credit expires, and if a person has a binding order and has paid the deposit before the deadline, the IRS will permit them to accept delivery after September 30.

In an apparent attempt to increase sales, Tesla is urging customers to place their orders before the cap is reached in order to benefit from the tax credit.

Orders for the new Model Y Performance start at $57,490 before incentives. Demand for the car is anticipated to be boosted by Tesla's strategic pricing and timing, especially among buyers hoping to take advantage of the federal tax credit.
