Apple's "Awe Dropping" event 2025 unveiled the iPhone 17 series, introducing a new design, cutting-edge features, and a fresh addition to the lineup, the iPhone 17 Air.
If you plan to import an Apple iPhone 17 model from abroad and bring it back to Pakistan, or courier it to your family, you’ll need to pay the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) tax to register it and use it with your local SIM in Pakistan.

It is worth noting that the PTA tax has to be paid within 30 days (in the case of PTA Passport registration) and 60 days (in the case of CNIC registration).
Is there any need for international travellers to pay PTA tax on iPhone 17?
No, with the recently introduced feature added to the original Device Identification, Registration, and Blocking System (DIRBS), which allows international travellers or overseas Pakistanis to temporarily register their phones for 120 days each time they visit Pakistan.
