Killer Instinct Gold, the popular 1996 2D fighting game, has finally arrived on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.

The game is quick and action-orientated, full of combos and colourful characters, and it has hit the growth spurt of Nintendo 64 (N64) classics now on the Switch.

Killer Instinct Gold makes its debut on Nintendo Switch

For those subscribed to the Expansion Pack tier of Nintendo Switch Online, Killer Instinct Gold comes with full access to Arcade, Tournament, Practice, and Team Mode.

These modes let players enjoy solo fights, sharpen their skills, or challenge friends in team-based matches.

However, with local and online multiplayer support, it’s easier than ever to share this nostalgic experience with others.

Rare originally developed it, and Killer Instinct Gold was the first that had these characteristics: a six-button control layout to punch and kick three times, similar to Street Fighter 2.

However, it is really flashy where combo chains are compounded with the "combo breakers" for defence, and cinematic moves end it all.

The visual aspect was different as well; pre-rendered 3D backgrounds made it look quite different from other simple 2D players.

Additionally, Nintendo continues to expand its retro library under the Expansion Pack, which includes other big N64 titles like Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Banjo-Kazooie.
