Following in the footsteps of initiatives taken earlier by the Punjab government, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Ali Amin Gandapur has announced a free laptop scheme programme for students in the province.
"If Punjab provides laptops to a certain percentage of students, we will do the same," Gandapur stated, adding that for the free laptop scheme, the KP government will match the percentage of laptop distribution in Punjab.
It should be noted that earlier, the Punjab government launched the Honhar Laptop Scholarship Programme to empower students, with a total of 50,000 laptops, including the state-of-the-art Core i7's 13th-generation models.
Addressing an event, Gandapur mentioned that KP had provided health insurance to its entire population through the Health Card Plus programme.
He urged Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to implement similar initiatives for Punjab’s entire population.
Moreover, he highlighted his government's achievements, including a 55% increase in revenue despite financial challenges, and a budget surplus of Rs176 billion.
He also challenged the Punjab government to debate their governance, stating that Punjab's performance doesn't even match 1% of KP’s achievements.
On the sidelines, Gandapur announced financial support for underprivileged brides, with the provincial government facilitating the weddings of 4,000 deserving girls and providing each with Rs200,000.
