The federal government on Tuesday announced a increase in the petrol price by up to Rs5.36 per litre in line with the recommendations of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
Meanwhile, the price for high-speed diesel was also hiked by Rs11.37 per litre, raising it to Rs284.35 from Rs272.98 per litre.
"The government has decided the following prices of petroleum products for the fortnight starting tomorrow, based on the recommendations of OGRA & the relevant ministries," the notification issued by the Ministry of Finance read.
It is worth noting that the new petrol price will take effect from July 16, 2025 till July 31, 2025.
Products | Existing price w.e.f 01.07.2025 | New price w.e.f 16.07.2025 | Increase/Decrease |
High-Speed Diesel (HSD) | 272.98 | 284.35 | +11.37 |
MS (Petrol) | Rs266.79 | 272.15 | +5.36 |
In the previous fortnight, the Pakistan government raised the petrol price by Rs8.36 amid largely stable global oil markets.
It is worth noting that petrol is primarily used in private transportation, small vehicles, rickshaws, and two-wheelers. Increasing prices will significantly impact the budgets of middle- and lower-middle-class households.
In addition, the hiked cost of high-speed diesel directly contributes to the rising prices of vegetables and other essential food items.
