The federal government is developing a new proposal to provide easy housing loans to first-time buyers and those wanting to buy smaller homes.

However, the objective of this proposal is to assist the real estate and construction industry and to increase property ownership among the nation and citizens, the Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said on Monday.

Aurangzeb stated this during a press conference following a meeting with the Overseas Investors' Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI). He was joined by Advisor to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad, OICCI President Yousaf Hussain and OICCI Secretary General Abdul Aleem.

The finance minister stated that the government is collaborating with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to finalise loan schemes that will include those people with lower incomes and assist in affording houses.

He said that the initiative is part of the broader plan of converting macroeconomic stability into sustainable long-term economic growth, with income liquidity and with direct involvement from all key sectors.

Furthermore, Aurangzeb shared that meetings were held with banking executives and major investors to share the government's growth strategy with them.

He stated that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is undergoing a digital transformation within the tax process, which would allow building trust through equitable processes.

Relief for the salaried class was also a key feature of the new budget, including simplified tax return forms.
