The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) on Monday decided to install Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) at airports to give travellers smooth cash withdrawal and banking service.
PAA has called multiple banks to equip terminals with ATMs at major airports, as this move will benefit both domestic and international travellers by offering currency access, withdrawals, and other services within the premises of passenger terminals.
ATMs will be installed at airports such as Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Sukkur, Gwadar, Skardu and Gilgit.
It should be noted that PAA has introduced multiple modernisation projects to upgrade travel experience and align airports with the global standards.
Last week, PAA invited bids from consultants for the construction of new airport in Sukkur to improve regional air connectivity and infrastructure.
Consulting firms, specialised in airport design, master planning, and feasibility studies, can apply for the bid by October 22. PAA noted that preference will be given to firms with prior experience in airport development.
According to PAA, the expansion of Sukkur airport will decrease pressure on Karachi and Multan airports with better connectivity for business, tourism, and logistics.
