
Government of Punjab is expected to launch its electric bus service in Rawalpindi under which 45 buses will be operated on 10 routes from November in the first phase.
Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMA) and the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) are completing arrangements before the inauguration ceremony.
A total of 80 electric buses will be deployed in the city through phases. In the initial phase, 45 buses have arrived in Rawalpindi, while 15 have been sent to Gujar Khan.
The launch of the electric bus service in Rawalpindi was initially set for October 15 by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, but it was postponed due to the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) protest in Islamabad.
Rawalpindi electric bus fee
Fares of the electric bus will range between Rs20 and Rs25. The PMA will supervise operations in Rawalpindi, whereas the Punjab Transport Company (PTC) will manage buses in Gujar Khan.
The electric buses will also be connected with the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus Service, which will provide travelers with a comfortable and affordable travel option.
