In a bold move unfolding in Pakistan's ever-evolving media landscape, the country is strengthening media ties with Russia through a series of new agreements, aiming to improve collaboration and the exchange of reliable information.

In a high-level meeting held in Islamabad on Saturday, Russian Ambassador Albert P. Khorev and Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar explored ways to bolster cooperation between the two countries’ state-owned media outlets.

One of the main highlights of the meeting was a new agreement between Pakistan Television’s international channel, PTV World, and Russia’s RT (Russian Television). This partnership will focus on content sharing and joint broadcasts, helping both sides present more diverse and authentic narratives to global audiences.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) and Russia’s Sputnik News Agency also remained a key development, in a bid to expand news sharing and support closer working ties between media organisations.

Apart from the media, both countries also reflected on collaborations in culture and tourism. In this regard, proposals were reviewed for exchange programmes involving digital influencers and youth delegations, fostering cultural understanding and people-to-people connections.

These measures reflect a growing desire of both nations to deepen engagement across multiple sectors with the help of media as a key platform for strengthening mutual trust and bilateral relations.
