As smart glasses enthusiasts have been desperately looking forward to getting their hands on Meta's next-generation AR and smart glasses, the tech giant seems to be tempting them by teasing new Aria Gen 2 glasses ahead of the actual treat.
The teaser reflects an Aria smart glasses upgrade nearly five years after the last iteration was launched in 2020, according to Android Central.
Citing the official teaser, the publication noted that the Aria Gen 2 glasses lack AR holographic capabilities, which is recompensed with a wide assortment of features such as RGB, 6DOF SLAM, eye-tracking cameras, and GPS tracking to comprehend the wearer's body, its actions, and the world around them.
"Project Aria from the outset was designed to begin a revolution around always-on, human-centric computing," said Richard Newcombe, VP of Meta Reality Labs Research.
Besides giving us a sneak peek into the visual appeal of its upcoming Aria Gen 2 glasses, Meta, in a blog, also featured an impressive demo to demonstrate their outstanding utilities for people with disabilities.
The demo depicted a visually impaired woman, willing to find apples, using the "Hey Meta" command to have Aria Gen 2 guide her by audio clues to go to the respective section of a grocery store.
This feature seemed to be a toned-up version of the Be My Eyes accessibility tool found in Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.
