Meta has officially expanded “Teen Accounts,” which gives advanced privacy and parental controls, to Facebook and Messenger in Pakistan.
Meta has placed hundreds of millions of teens in the “Teen Accounts” feature, which has already rolled out globally on Instagram.
Notably, the new Teen Accounts apply stricter privacy settings for users under 18, limiting inappropriate content, unwanted contact, and the visibility of their profiles.
Users under 16 will need parental permission to change settings like going live or turning off default image protections, and to turn off nudity filtering in messages.
Parents can easily set a time limit to ensure that teens are spending less time on social media platforms. While there’s always more work to be done, Meta is encouraged to see that Teen Accounts are bringing parents more peace of mind when it comes to the teens’ online experiences.

Meta aims to provide a more private and safer online experience for young people across Meta's platforms, similar to the Instagram version, which has shown positive results, with 97% of teens remaining in the most restrictive settings.
The company will start placing teens who are new to the app, and teens who are already using Facebook and Messenger, into Teen Accounts as early as this week in Pakistan.
As part of Meta’s commitment to supporting parents and protecting teens, the company is working on various new ways to keep teens safe on Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram.
