WhatsApp, the globally popular instant messaging platform, is secretly doing something that best matches its domain: employing artificial intelligence (AI) to let users chat smarter with its proprietary Ask Meta AI option.
The new Meta AI feature was reportedly spotted in WhatsApp's new iOS beta update, version 25.26.10.71, making chats smarter than ever and giving users direct access to Meta’s AI assistant without leaving the app.
The feature makes fact-checking and clarification extremely easy, you can now simply tap “Ask Meta AI” in the message menu instead of switching to a browser and searching for terms you don’t understand. Doing this opens a dedicated chat window with Meta AI, where the selected message appears as a reference.
Unlike standard forwarding, the content doesn’t go to Meta AI automatically. Users must add their own question or context before submitting, which keeps privacy in check and ensures the tool is used thoughtfully.
The Facebook parent initially introduced this shortcut on Android, and iOS users are now getting a similar experience.
The design is mainly intended to keep the flow of conversation by allowing people to clarify information, verify news headlines, or request deeper explanations.
The latest WhatsApp iOS update is rolling out to select beta testers at the moment, and full-scale availability is expected in the coming weeks.
