Meta recently announced plans to replace fact-checkers with a new feature called Community Notes on its Threads app.

It should be noted that over the past few weeks, the Meta-owned platform has been witnessing an accelerated rollout of high-in-demand features and updates.

Community Notes on X (formerly Twitter)

Community Notes, formerly known as Birdwatch, is a feature on X where contributors can add context such as fact-checks under a post, image, or video.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted that the feature was inspired by X (formerly Twitter), as the Elon Musk-owned platform already has a similar feature.

Screenshots shared by Alessandro Paluzzi, a renowned leaker, offer a glimpse into what this feature might look like on Threads.

According to the screenshots, users will be able to start the process of writing a Community Note by accessing the three-dots menu on a post.

The feature will be anonymous, allowing users to provide context and additional information without revealing their identity.

Rolling out to the users in the US within the next few months, Meta has plans to improve the feature throughout the year.

On the sidelines, Meta is also updating its content moderation policies. The company plans to lift certain restrictions on topics like immigration and gender and will begin phasing "civil content" back into Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.
