In a bid to strengthen trade ties between the two nations, Pakistan and Belarus have agreed to locally assemble and manufacture Belarusian tractors as part of joint ventures (JVs).
The development was conveyed during the 5th session of the Pakistan-Belarus Joint Working Group on Industrial Cooperation held at the Engineering Development Board (EDB).
According to Dawn, it also emerged during the session that local companies were interested in JVs aimed at local production in the automotive and heavy machinery sector.
Both countries talked at length about ways to amplify industrial cooperation for assembling and manufacturing Belarus tractors, 12 to 18-meter electric buses, agricultural machinery and oil transformers.
Other notable domains in which both parties expressed interest in cooperating revolve around machinery used in coal mining, gold and silver mining, concrete production, and iron ore extraction in Pakistan.
The EDB, the subordinate authority of the Ministry of Industries and Production, walked the Belarusian officials through the range of industrial engineering goods areas where both countries could potentially commence joint ventures.
Apart from the JVs in question, a business delegation from Pakistan will visit Belarus next month to tap into the possibilities of increasing exports of textiles, rice, citrus fruits, leather apparel, leather footwear, and medical instruments.
