The Federal government is expected to announce significant incentives as part of the federal budget 2025-26 for the export of mobile phones from Pakistan.

Experts from the industry and mobile phone assemblers in Pakistan reveal that federal and provincial governments are jointly developing a policy to promote "Made in Pakistan" mobile phones and establish Pakistan as a smartphone export hub.

Govt plans rebate, tax cuts to push ‘Made in Pakistan’ phones abroad

According to Business Recorder, an announcement of a rebate on the export of mobile phones will be announced on June 10, along with the federal budget, as the import from the United States is accelerating following talks between Islamabad and Washington.

Mobile phone manufacturing in Pakistan is already serving to meet local demand over 95%, and global Chinese brands such as Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo, Tecno, and Infinix are all assembling mobile phones in the country.

Karachi Electronic Dealers Association (KEDA) Former president Muhammad Idrees Memon stated that the government plans to introduce a policy similar to the Export Facilitation Scheme (EFS) to allow mobile phone manufacturers in Pakistan to export their products.

In addition, there are also talks and discussions about the removal or reduction of the Infrastructure Development Cess (IDC), currently set at 1.81% to 1.85%, on mobile parts (CKD) imported by exporters.

He added that Sindh is expected to finalise its export package by Wednesday, while Punjab has already agreed to a similar deal. Officials from the Ministry of Finance, FBR, EDB, and Commerce Ministry are said to be on board.

Transsion Tecno Electronics CEO Aamir Allawala said Chinese companies are looking to shift export bases to Pakistan due to low labour costs. “Pakistan can become a key exporter to Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia,” he noted.
