Samsung has made significant strides in foldable technology recently; the screen of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has withstood an astounding 500,000 folds without exhibiting any signs of wear and tear.

The display held up well after being folded half a million times over the course of 13 days, according to tests done by the French testing company Bureau Veritas.

This accomplishment is comparable to a ten-year average of 100 phone folds per day or a six-year average of 200 folds per day for heavy users.

Moreover, the technology's maker, Samsung Display, asserts that the lifespan of foldable smartphones is no longer constrained by durability.

"We've made significant progress in durability and design as foldable OLED enters its seventh year of commercialisation," stated Samsung Display Executive Vice President Hojung Lee. "This new panel... increases consumer trust in the durability of foldable OLEDs."

Samsung's inventive use of high-elastic adhesive and bulletproof glass technology, which improves fold recovery performance by four times compared to the previous design, is responsible for the display's longevity.

In related news, it has been reported that Samsung Display has been chosen by tech giant Apple to produce screens for its first foldable iPhone, which is scheduled to debut in the summer of 2026.

Nevertheless, according to a recent survey, 64% of consumers are not interested in buying a foldable smartphone within the next 12 months.

In spite of this, Samsung's developments in foldable technology are poised to transform the smartphone market by providing users with a new degree of durability and flexibility in their gadgets.
