Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S26 series may bring one of the biggest changes to the lineup ever. The Galaxy S line has been Samsung's main flagship smartphone line for over a decade, consisting of S Ultra, S Plus, and a base model.

However, new leaks now suggest that the familiar "base" model may be replaced by a new device called the Galaxy S26 Pro.

Recently, there have been fresh clues from One UI 8 code names that were discovered just earlier this week, suggesting that there are three phones for the 2026 launch: the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Galaxy S26 Edge, and the surprise Galaxy S26 Pro.

The Edge has been rumoured for months to replace the standard Plus model that has appeared in previous Galaxy S launches, but the Pro model is expected to be something new.

Moreover, a new listing from GSMA has given the rumours some significant legs. As reported by Android Authority, the database shows Samsung making a change to its July 10 entry for model number SM S942U.

Originally, the listing was simply called "Galaxy S26," but a new entry dated Tuesday now calls it "Galaxy S26 Pro." The other listings for the Edge and Ultra remain the same, notably, though, there is no listing for a "Galaxy S26 Plus" at all.

The “Pro” name usually signals premium pricing, like Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro or Google’s Pixel 10 Pro, which makes its role even more mysterious.
