Pakistan launches first locally made ventilator: A game-changer for technology

Pakistan has accomplished a significant milestone in its journey towards technological breakthroughs with the release of its first locally manufactured ventilator. This achievement marks a key step in Pakistan's advancement in the technology sector.

Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, showcased the ventilator during a ceremony, calling it a revolutionary leap for Pakistan’s innovation landscape. Iqbal emphasized that this development is a testament to the country's growing capabilities in the tech industry.

The ventilator has been developed by a private company under the Uraan Pakistan initiative, emphasising the country’s unwavering commitment to promoting homegrown technology. 

While praising the company’s dedication, Iqbal referred to the ventilator as a “trailblazer for Uraan Pakistan” and encouraged the nation to pursue similar innovations to position Pakistan as a global rival.

While outlining the challenges to Pakistan’s quest for global leadership, Iqbal emphasised the importance of collective efforts to redefine the country’s future, particularly as it approaches its centenary in 2047. 

He further outlined the potential of breakthrough technologies in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, expressing confidence in Pakistan’s ability to outperform regional rivals within the next two decades.

In addition, Iqbal emphasised consistent policies and long-term reforms, drawing inspiration from nations such as Japan and South Korea.
