The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has introduced Pakistan's first QR-based digital identity system, the Khyber Pass platform.

Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur announced the Khyber Pass platform on Tuesday at the CM House. The Khyber Pass will provide a single digital ID for citizens and will provide better access to public services without having to submit documents again.

The QR-based digital identity is connected with NADRA and other government departments, allowing users to view their data and apply for services such as healthcare and education, taxation, property, and licensing services all in the same location.

"This platform will help ease the life of the people of KP," Gandapur explained. "No more waiting in long lines or travelling to multiple sites."

Currently, three government services are available in the Khyber Pass app. However, more are expected to arrive soon, including the highly popular Sehat Card, which provides all residents with healthcare coverage.

Cheif minister explained that e-governance is important for ensuring transparency, trust, and service delivery for the common people.

Gandapur explained that they were already able to save Rs3 billion in fines from prior digitised government services, and the improved monitoring capabilities enabled them to eliminate Rs13 billion in Sehat Card costs. The treasure of KP has also reached Rs190 billion since Gandapur's administration came to power.

The chief minister said that the government is committed to delivering services at people's doorsteps and strengthening the IT sector to support digital growth.
