In the wake of large gatherings expected for the upcoming Ashura, mobile phone services in Sindh are likely to be suspended on the day of Ashura.

The Sindh Home Department has sent a letter to the interior ministry, urging the suspension of mobile internet services along the routes of processions.

The letter specifically requests that the Ministry of Interior make a decision in accordance with existing regulations and inform the department accordingly.

The measure is reportedly being undertaken to ensure security during the observance of Ashura, when massive processions are expected nationwide.

It was also learned that the Sindh government is taking measures to maintain order and safety during this sacred religious occasion.

The final call on the mobile service jamming will be announced after the interior ministry's response to the request.
