Adding to Pakistan's long-running internet woes, a fresh wave of internet disruption has taken place nationwide, as a significant surge has been observed in PTCL internet outage reports.

Data from the renowned outage tracking service, Downdetector, showed that complaints regarding the internet discord began emerging at around 2:40pm on Tuesday.

The outage tracker's data, as noted by TechJuice, indicated the tally of complaints surpassed 140, marking a dramatic jump from the initial number of reports.

This sudden spike is affecting users across the country, with many experiencing complete loss of connectivity, slow browsing speeds, and frequent packet drops. Social media is buzzing with frustrated posts from students, businesses, and gamers venting their anger about this latest service failure.

It's not just PTCL; other providers like Nayatel and Transworld are also struggling, particularly with their streaming services. A spokesperson mentioned that the slowdown is due to an outage with one of their two upstream providers, impacting a significant portion of internet traffic in Pakistan.

A day earlier, State Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja announced plans to bring 5G to seven major cities, even as users contend with ongoing internet glitches and slow speeds.

So far, no official statements have been made regarding the cause of the disruption, but widespread outages are likely linked to recent fibre cuts in Jeddah.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has indicated that these issues are expected to throttle Pakistan's internet connectivity for over a month.
