After receiving loads of backlash due to an unprecedented and unexpected round of account suspension, Sony has revived some suspended PlayStation accounts of people who were accidentally banned.

Taking to social media platforms, PlayStation users on Wednesday reported about the revival of their accounts.

A day earlier, the community of Sony’s next-gen console, PlayStation, observed a troublesome wave of account suspension with which countless users reportedly had their accounts banned for no reason, The Verge reported.

However, the company hasn’t made an official announcement as to why it suspended hundreds of PlayStation accounts without prior notification.

Unfortunately, some users are still posting about the ban on X (formerly Twitter), eagerly seeking answers to why their accounts were snatched away. The gaming forum ResetEra showed many people experiencing a similar problem.

According to one user, his account was suspended for chargebacks even though he hadn’t made any recent purchases or incurred any charges on his card linked with his account.

Similarly, a Reddit user managed to reach out to Sony’s support team and was given a case number for a suspension complaint. The user was also promised a solution in 24-48 hours.

Some people who received these suspensions were understandably angry, as they may have spent a lot of money on digital PlayStation games that they couldn’t access.

A user, with Twitter handle @mechaeldhaliwal, posted on X, saying "That’s a huge library to have blocked! I hope they’re able to get you back in. I don’t see “create another account” as a viable option for anyone with that much invested."

Meanwhile, some users were suggested by the company to create new PlayStation accounts.

The PS community on Reddit and X speculated that the PS network has been hacked or affected by malware. However, without an official word from Sony, it’s difficult to pinpoint the root cause.

The company’s support page on PlayStation suspensions clearly stated that users will be informed by email explaining why they have been suspended.

However, the majority of users affected in this en masse suspension session maintained that they were not notified by the company via email or any other means.
