Many users of the PlayStation Network reported a sudden and unexpected permanent suspension of their accounts on Monday.
Sony sent messages to affected users stating, “This account is permanently suspended from PlayStation Network due to violations of the PlayStation Network Terms of Service and User Agreement.” Similar messages were reported on Reddit, PlayStation-related accounts on social media, and forums like ResetEra.
User distress and digital content loss
Numerous users expressed distress as they faced the loss of access to digital PlayStation games, some of which they may have invested significant money in.
Sony's silence on the issue
Despite widespread user reports, Sony has not officially acknowledged the problem. There is no mention of these issues on Sony's support page or its official social media accounts, and the company has not responded to requests for comments. The extent of the problem's reach remains unclear.
