Oppo has not been immune to the rising smartphone prices in Pakistan, and the Oppo A58 is the latest model to see a price hike. Previously priced at Rs44,000, the A58 now costs Rs48,999, an increase of Rs5,000. Despite this adjustment, the question remains whether it still offers good value for money.
The Oppo A58 features an IPS display with a 180Hz touch sampling rate, although its refresh rate remains a standard 60Hz. The display boasts a Full HD resolution of 1080p and performs well under sunlight, thanks to its 680nit brightness panel. The punch hole design maximises screen real estate compared to traditional notches.
The camera setup on the A58, while visually appealing, is somewhat underwhelming. It includes a 50 MP primary camera and a 2 MP depth sensor. The device can only manage 1080p video recording at 30fps due to its relatively weak processor.
For selfies, there's an 8 MP front-facing camera. The phone is powered by the Helio G85 chipset, which, while not the most powerful SoC at this price point, is adequate for everyday tasks. It comes with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via an SD card.
Battery life is one of the A58's strengths, featuring a 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging capabilities, reducing the time spent tethered to a charger. Security features include face unlock and a side-mounted fingerprint reader, catering to privacy-conscious users. The phone ships with Android 13 but is upgradable to Android 14.
The Oppo A58 remains a competitive choice in the budget smartphone market despite the price increase. Its solid display, expandable storage, and robust battery life make it a viable option, although potential buyers should weigh these strengths against its less impressive camera and processor capabilities.
