The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Tuesday collaborated to spread awareness about mobile device registration through the Device Identification, Registration, and Blocking System (DIRBS).

However, this initiative ensures that only legally imported and registered mobile devices are used in Pakistan.

PTA mobile device registration process

The registration process includes two main steps: paying taxes and duties to the FBR and verifying technical requirements through the PTA’s DIRBS system. Once completed, the device is officially registered and can be activated for local networks use.

This system helps curb the use of smuggled or unregistered phones and promotes lawful practices in Pakistan’s mobile ecosystem.

Notably, the consumers are advised to purchase PTA-approved devices, identifiable by a "PTA Approved" stamp on the handset, to ensure network compatibility and secure operations within Pakistan's mobile ecosystem.

This partnership aims to create a secure and transparent digital future in Pakistan. By collaborating with the FBR, the PTA plans to establish a strong digital ecosystem, safeguard revenue collection, and enhance national security.

For the latest updates on taxes and duties for mobile devices, stakeholders are encouraged to visit the official FBR website.
