The Punjab government on Wednesday approved the Lahore to Rawalpindi high-speed train project to provide travellers a new commute option.

This project — during a cabinet meeting — is focused to improve infrastructure and public service, connecting Lahore to Rawalpindi with a modern, efficient, and rapid transit system.

Officials said that this project will reduce your travel time between the two major cities, increasing economic activity, and give you a comfortable way to get across the province.

You will be able to travel through a high-speed train with a comfortable and convenient experience.

It should be noted that the Punjab cabinet also approved other key projects, such as the launch of Air Punjab Private Limited, cashless QR code system, and new electric bus depots in multiple cities across province.

However, the high-speed rail project remains a centrepiece of Punjab’s vision for fast, sustainable, and integrated transport.

"Public service, rapid development, and transparent governance are the government’s top priorities," said Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, adding that the Lahore-Rawalpindi high-speed rail will set new standards for connectivity and urban mobility in Pakistan.

For the project's success, the chief minister has directed relevant departments to ensure timely implementation, along with coordinate closely with federal authorities and international partners.
