Rawalpindi is set to witness a major development in its transportation system with the launch of first electric bus service by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz later this month.

Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi announced the project, which intends to give city travellers an eco-friendly and sustainable public transport option.

The minister said that the electric bus service will provide a comfortable, safe, and affordable mode of transportation, especially for women, students, and working professionals who depend significantly on public transportation.

The introduction of electric buses would represent a major improvement in urban mobility. The provincial government aims of efficient, modern and clean transportation with the launch of electric bus service.

In addition to improving air quality, lowering emissions from traditional buses will also aid in easing city traffic congestion.

The minister gave the federal and provincial leaders credit for their development projects, which included the Metro Bus, new schools, and technical centres.

Leading officials such as MPA Ziaullah Shah, Sardar Naseem, Federal Parliamentary Secretary Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry, and business community representatives attended the event. They talked about the government's continued initiatives to upgrade the city's transit and infrastructure.
