Redmi A4 5G: First smartphone to launch with Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip

Redmi A4 5G was announced in India on Wednesday (October 16) at the annual India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024 event. 

Coming as one of the most affordable 5G smartphones, Xiaomi’s upcoming affordable flagship is said to be the first entry-level smartphone to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset.

Redmi A4 5G camera

As showcased at the IMC 2024, the Redmi A4 5G appears to have a dual rear camera setup housed in a circular camera island. 

While the company is yet to reveal the complete specifications of the upcoming flagship, the Redmi A4 5G is likely to offer a 50MP main camera and an 8MP front camera for selfies and video calls, according to Qualcomm.

The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip being used in the Redmi A4 5G is built using Qualcomm's 4nm process technology. It also offers a peak clock speed of 2GHz along with support for LPDDR4x RAM. 

The handset is anticipated to come with a 6.7-inch LCD backed by HD+ resolution, a refresh rate of up to 90Hz, and a 5,000mAh battery with 18W wired charging support. 

Additionally, it will also include a dual-frequency GPS (L1+L5) and support for dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, and NFC connectivity. 

The Redmi A4 5G will also support up to USB 3.2 Gen 1 transfer speeds (5Gbps) along with UFS 3.1 storage support. 

Redmi A4 5G pricing, availability

The Redmi A4 5 G was showcased at the launch event in two colourways, including white and black. According to the company, it is likely to be priced at around INR 10,000. However, the company has yet to announce an official release date for this upcoming handset.
