Samsung has revealed that Apple’s first OLED MacBook Pro models are expected to launch in 2026. The company is currently working on sample displays and plans to start large-scale production by next year.
This timeline aligns with earlier predictions from earlier display rumours that previously suggested that Apple’s OLED MacBook Pro would arrive in 2026.
MacBook Air OLED pushed back to 2029
While MacBook Pro users can look forward to the new OLED technology, those waiting for an OLED MacBook Air will have to wait much longer.
Initially expected to launch by 2027, the OLED MacBook Air’s release has now been pushed back to 2029 or later, according to recent reports. The delay is reportedly due to production challenges and supply chain adjustments.
Why Apple is moving to OLED displays?
Currently, Apple’s MacBook Pro models use mini-LED backlit LCD screens, which offer good brightness and contrast. However, OLED panels provide richer colours, better contrast, and increased power efficiency.
Reportedly, the MacBook Pro will feature advanced two-stack OLED panels, which offer better durability and brightness, while the MacBook Air is expected to use a simpler single-stack OLED design.
