Sony might be preparing for another PlayStation showcase based on conversations in the industry regarding a new State of Play livestream potentially planned for the end of September 2025, with the broadcast anticipated to display the upcoming PlayStation 5 lineup as well as perhaps its 2026 lineup.
Notably, State of Play is a digital event series Sony uses to announce new games and trailers and to provide updates on upcoming releases.
State of Play is one of the major ways PlayStation communicates with its fan base around the world. In 2023 alone, Sony has held four of these events, including dedicated State of Play broadcasts for Borderlands 4 in April 2023 and Ghost of Yotei in July 2023.

According to reliable gaming insider Jeff Grubb, the final announcements of this event is expected very soon. On his Game Mess Mornings podcast, Grubb stated he "felt comfortable" saying that Sony is going to host a State of Play or something bigger like a PlayStation Showcase around the end of September.
September has always been a popular month for Sony to announce new news related to their consoles, so the timing definitely checks out.
If the rumour is true, the announcement could happen on September 23 or 24, with the livestream happening on September 25. What fans are most interested in, however, is the line-up and the news.
Alongside the final push for Ghost of Yotei ahead of its October release, speculation suggests players may finally see Saros gameplay, a fresh look at Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, the rumoured 2.5D God of War spinoff, and long-awaited updates on Fairgames and Wolverine.
