Starlink, Elon Musk-owned satellite internet network, has reached a milestone of around 4 million subscribers globally this week, according to the company.

The company is an owned subsidiary of Elon Musk’s aerospace company SpaceX which launched its satellites in 2019, to provide internet services around the globe.

However, later, taking to X (formerly Twitter), the four million subscribers milestone was confirmed by SpaceX on Thursday, meaning that the company has gained a million new customers since the end of May.

Starlink started to provide its product’s beta service to users in October 2020 and reached the earlier milestones as follows.

  • One million subscribers in December 2022
  • Two million subscribers in September 2023
  • Three million users in May 2024

Due to its top-notch services, alongside securing many individual customers, Starlink has also gained various deals with major businesses since its start.

The company consists of around 6,400 satellites, that not only serve remote demographics but also major commercial industries, including the airlines and cruise liners.

Additionally, the SpaceX-owned company is also expected to generate $6.6 billion in revenue this year, marking a remarkable increase from $1.4 billion just two years before, as per industry research and consulting firm Quilty Space.

Moreover, being the undisputed giant of satellite internet, Starlink is currently working on another constellation, Amazon’s Project Kuiper, which is yet to start the commercial service.
