Steam is offering gamers the opportunity to acquire Away, a short psychological adventure game, completely free until September 24, 2025.

After it's claimed, Away stays in your library forever, making it a great time for players who enjoy short narrative games to acquire the game.

Away is the first title from NipoBox, which has also released several other games. Their most recent release, Knight's Night (a retro 1-bit platform), has promising user reviews, indicating that NipoBox has been refining its craft.

What is Away on Steam?

Away, a visual novel-style adventure created by NipoBox, describes the final moments of a dying protagonist. The game can last under five minutes, with players clicking through the character's monologue while he reflects on his actual final thoughts.

Although Away is currently “Mixed” on Steam, many players feel it has delivered a reputable amount of storytelling as gloomy and emotional as it is. Especially now it is free. Furthermore, some players described it as a prologue to a spiritual or afterlife game.

Why try Away at all?

Short games on Steam are seemingly becoming more popular. Allowing game experiences in under five hours, as demonstrated with Inside and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, provides valuable experiences that don't always require dozens of hours.

Away has made its place as a unique form of storytelling, allowing players to complete the game in less time than the duration of a song.

Additionally, Away was priced at $3. It may have appeared as an unreasonable purchase for players. However, it is now free. A brief experience. However, thinking about its destination makes it worth the amount of time. A player or fan of a short indie game, or such narrative games, should experience Away.
