Pakistan's Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission, or Suparco, today launched more than 4,000 postcards designed by schoolchildren into space as part of celebrations for the ongoing Space Week.

This ambitious campaign, "Post Cards to Space," is a joint effort by Suparco in collaboration with the World Space Week Association and Blue Origin.

The "Post Cards to Space" contest called for designs and entries of postcards that reflected the inspiration, dreams, or creativity of the students in relation to space.

The postcards were flown into space aboard the Blue Origin NS-27 New Shepard mission; this presented a unique opportunity to push the walls of space for budding young minds.

Thousands of young enthusiasts from across Pakistan participated in this event, showcasing their ardour for space travel.

Recognition Internationally, the efforts of Suparco in the promotion of space education and inspiring future leaders of space enthusiasts have earned recognition.

Since 2005, Suparco has headed the ranks of the top national coordinators in the rankings compiled by the World Space Week Association.

As the imagination and creativity of the postcards of the youth of Pakistan carried to space on the NS-27 New Shepard mission, upon their return to Earth, these postcards will carry a special "Flown to Space" stamp as an indication of the special journey they experienced.

This project is a canvas for the thoughts, ideas, and aspirations of students about the exploration of space. By participating in this project, young Pakistanis could:

  • Interest in STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
  • Creativity and ideas
  • Better understanding of space with its meaning
