In a landmark move to reinforce Pakistan’s space technology and research capabilities, the Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) officially launched its advanced REsearch SOLutions & VEntures (RESOLVE) R&D lab at the National Centre for Remote Sensing & Geo-Informatics (NCRG), SUPARCO Complex, Karachi, on November 18.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Sindh Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman, Prof. Dr. Tariq Rafi, who honoured as the chief guest. This milestone marks a significant step forward in Pakistan’s efforts to establish itself as a global leader in space technology and research.
In collaboration with national socio-economic and strategic growth objectives, SUPARCO introduced the RESOLVE initiative at the NCRG in Karachi.

This RESOLVE R&D setup is focused on establishing state-of-the-art technological research labs across North, Central, and South Pakistan. These labs are equipped with cutting-edge computing resources and designed as collaborative platforms for industry and academia. It is set to empower researchers to address complex challenges and drive breakthroughs in science and technology.
The RESOLVE research labs aim to promote contemporary research activities for Pakistan's development within academia and industry by facilitating outsourced, space-focused R&D projects. This initiative is strategically designed to create numerous opportunities for academia to engage directly in real-world projects under the guidance of university faculty.

This research will contribute to Pakistan’s accomplishing socio-economic objectives, supporting the nation’s ambitions within the global space sector. RESOLVE will focus on various fields, including space avionics, algorithm development, artificial intelligence, image processing, robotics, software-defined systems, materials and composite structures, and aerodynamics.
Additionally, RESOLVE intends to organise lectures, seminars, and specialised workshops on various space technology topics at universities nationwide. Currently, memorandum of understandings (MoUs) are being developed with multiple universities to standardise these collaborations, fostering knowledge exchange and technological enhancement throughout Pakistan.
