While virtual assistant enthusiasts seem extremely eager to try out the wonders of the upgraded artificial intelligence-powered Siri, Apple has dropped a truth bomb unexpectedly this week, disclosing that it has postponed Siri upgrades until 2026.

The iPhone maker confirmed in an official notification, released earlier this week, that an enhanced version of Siri coupled with various AI-assisted smarts will not make it live this year as originally scheduled, The News reported.

Probably regarding the reason behind pushing the release date far off-sight, the tech giant explained that it has been developing a "more personalised Siri", which will give it "more awareness of your personal context, as well as the ability to take action for you within and across your apps."

"It's going to take us longer than we thought to deliver on these features, and we anticipate rolling them out in the coming year," read the statement.

The previous iteration of Siri, released last year, introduced a suite of exceptional AI-backed features called Apple Intelligence. Notable capabilities of the previous Siri upgrade included new capabilities such as rewriting emails and summarising a spilling, mismanaged inbox.

Other significant enhancements in Siri at the time revolved around the ability to take over apps to execute operations, as per user query, after sifting through data stored in Apple devices.
