WhatsApp is working on a new chat lists feature to add a limit on the number of contacts and group chat lists users can create.

The Meta-owned app continues to enhance its features for a better user experience by regularly testing new features through beta updates.

Earlier, WhatsApp announced a new feature to add contacts and group chats to lists. Adding a new shortcut simplified the process of organising contacts and group chats.

However, it did not set any restrictions on the number of lists, meaning users were able to generate an unlimited number of lists.

What's new in WhatsApp beta 2.24.21.37?

According to WABetaInfo, the limited chat lists feature is available in Android beta version 2.24.21.37 of WhatsApp available on the Google Play Store.

With this new update, WhatsApp users will be able to create 20 lists for organising contacts and groups, reducing the app clutter.

WhatsApp also aims to encourage users to be more intentional about which lists they create and which contacts and groups they want to include in those lists.

The new chat limit feature is currently in the testing process and will be rolled out to the public in future updates.
