On WhatsApp, it must be annoying to pinpoint that one important, lost photo, video, or GIF sent to you long ago by one of your countless friends, but this frustration must come to an end as WhatsApp is working on a new media management feature to help you find shared media files more easily.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp's new media hub will be first rolled out to WhatsApp Web.

Until now, WhatsApp users have struggled to scour years-long chat histories looking for an important meme or a random multimedia piece, whereas now, once the new media hub is added, it will be easier to track down media files, be they videos, images, GIFs, links, and documents, since they will be stored in one place

The new WhatsApp feature will be located at the left sidebar of the messaging platform, right above the Settings icon.

In addition to getting their hands on specific items by simply using captions, users will be able to sort their media files by recency and size.

Documents and links will be displayed with details such as the contact info (who shared the file) and the date it was sent. Cherry on top will be a multi-select feature enabling users to select multiple files to forward, delete, or download at a time.

Although the WhatsApp mobile app has had a similar but less functional media management system, the upcoming web version is going to be more user-friendly.
