Gamers around the world should brace themselves to swallow a bitter pill as Microsoft has raised the prices of Xbox consoles and games globally.
Behind the considerable price hike, the technology juggernaut cited rising production costs globally.
The development comes on the heels of Sony’s recent decision to raise PlayStation 5 prices in some countries.
“These changes are challenging, and they were made with careful consideration given market conditions and the rising cost of development,” the company stated.
Following the price increments, the price of the entry-level Xbox Series S received a steep 27% surge in the US, rising from $299.99 to $379.99.
Whereas, the price of the high-end Xbox Series X Galaxy Black has been increased by 22%, which, following the price hike, will be sold at $729.99.
On the other hand, the cost of Xbox Series S in Europe has increased by 17%, from €299.99 to €349.99.
Besides raising the prices of two of the most widely popular Xbox consoles, Microsoft also confirmed that some new games developed by its in-house studios will now cost $10 more compared to their previous retail price of $79.99.
