Amid intensifying competition among top-tier automotive companies around the world, Xiaomi has garnered immense traction as the Xiaomi YU7 is set to officially launch on June 26.
The confirmation regarding the latest Xiaomi EV SUV was made public via the smartphone giant’s EV unit in a Weibo post. The post clearly confirmed that the launch event will commence at 7:00 pm (local time) on the same day.
Apart from the YU7, the event will showcase the Xiaomi MIX Flip 2 foldable smartphone and the Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro, with the latter being the second tablet powered by Xiaomi’s in-house Xring O1 chip.
Lei Jun, the company’s founder, chairman, and CEO, suggested that a "personal smart device for the next generation" was also on the cards.
To note, the YU7 was initially disclosed on May 22 as a strong contender against Tesla's Model Y, with Jun claiming that the SUV would officially launch in July. However, on June 16, he announced that the YU7 would be launched by the end of June.
Xiaomi YU7 prices
The official pricing for the Xiaomi YU7 will be confirmed 1-2 days before the launch, with Lei indicating that it will start at RMB 20,000 ($2,780) higher than the SU7 electric sedan.
Although the company made a delayed debut in China's EV market, Xiaomi has achieved unmatched success, with its SU7 series delivering over 28,000 units in May alone.
