Things to check when buying a laptop
Understanding the processors' names
The first thing you should keep in mind before buying a new laptop is to look for the right processor. For instance, Intel's processors include Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, and Core i9. The Core i3 is the least powerful, while the Core i9 is the most powerful processor.
However, this isn’t enough, as you should also consider what’s written at the end of these processors, i.e. chip lines. Intel uses numbers and letters that provide more information about the chip's capabilities, including U, P, H, HS, and HX.
If it’s U or P, it’s a laptop for basic tasks, suitable for students and professionals. However, if you’re buying a laptop for gaming, you should consider the ones with H, HS, or HX.
Generation of SSD
Before buying a laptop, you should check which generation of SSD (Solid State Drive) is used in it, such as Gen 3 (oldest), Gen 4, and Gen 5 (latest).
RAM (Random Access Memory)
When buying a laptop, check the storage as well as the speed of the RAM, i.e. 3,200 Hz, 4,200 Hz, and 5,200 Hz. If the RAM speed is less than 3,200 Hz, you should avoid buying such a laptop.
Graphic card
All laptops technically have graphics cards. If it has integrated graphics, it is fine for users who want to watch HD movies and play casual games. However, if you're a gamer and do a lot of video editing, you'll need a laptop with discrete graphics. Laptops with graphic cards made by AMD and Nvidia will suit you more.
