Apple is gearing up for its much-awaited “Awe-Dropping” event in 2025; the spotlight will be on the iPhone 17 lineup, with leaks hinting at four new models: the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Alongside the new iPhones, Apple is also expected to refresh its wearables and accessories, marking one of its biggest launch nights of the year.
Apple likely to discontinue these products
With the release of new iPhones often comes the phase-out of existing ones. It has been reported that Apple will release four iPhones: the iPhone 15, the iPhone 15 Plus, the iPhone 16 Pro, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Although these devices could still be available via third-party sellers, it is expected that Apple will begin removing them from Apple.com in favour of a tidier lineup. Apple also appears to want to only carry current devices that support Apple Intelligence.
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus would also be expected to remain on the shelf at cheaper prices, and the iPhone 16e, which was launched earlier this year as the replacement for the iPhone SE, would likely remain the cheapest iPhone option for Apple.
It's not only iPhones facing retirement. Apple Watch Series 10, Apple Watch Ultra 2, and Apple Watch SE (second generation) could all see retirement in favour of updated devices.
Meanwhile, in the audio lineup, AirPods Pro 2 could find themselves phased out of the market after the expected announcement of AirPods Pro 3 or remain even at a lower price based on how significant the upgrade turns out to be.
