Mobile web browsing has become increasingly troublesome in recent years, plagued by constant cookie prompts, pop-up ads, and other obstructions that make the user experience unpleasant.

Apple appears to be addressing this issue with the new "Distraction Control" feature introduced in the iOS 18 beta. This feature, unveiled with the fifth iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 beta rollout, allows users to temporarily remove distracting elements from their mobile web interface, such as cookie prompts, ads, and persistent autoplay videos.

It is important to note that the effect of "Distraction Control" is temporary and does not function as an adblocker, ensuring that website owners are not deprived of ad revenue.

MacRumors published a detailed video demonstrating the feature. To activate it, users will need to tap the "Reader Mode" button, which simplifies the webpage to display only the main text, hiding other distracting elements.

If Apple maintains its current trajectory, "Distraction Control" should be included in the final versions of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, expected to be released next month.
