Apple is set to launch a new iCloud service called "Confetti," designed for sending event invites and managing RSVPs. Unlike the existing Calendar app, Confetti is expected to provide a more interactive experience. The new service could go live as soon as this week.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this feature will offer a fresh way to invite people to parties, meetings, and gatherings.
Apple's new Confetti feature
Confetti is linked to iOS 18.3, which started rolling out to iPhone and iPad users last month. Apple has been working on improving its Calendar app for years, and this launch marks the first step in that direction.
The new iCloud feature is expected to make event planning easier by letting users see who has accepted or declined their invites. It may also integrate with iCloud.com, allowing users to manage invites from the web.
Reports suggest that Confetti will be powered by a new system in iOS 18 called GroupKit. This technology helps manage groups of people and has been present since iOS 18.0, though it hasn’t been used in Apple apps until now.
Moreover, Confetti might be a standalone app or could integrate into other Apple services like iMessage. It is expected to have a more fun and user-friendly design compared to the Calendar app.
