Apple plans to announce a new Vision Pro headset, and it looks like some of the big hardware upgrades will be found in Vision Pro 2. The original Apple Vision Pro was announced in early 2024, and the spatial computing was incredible. However, it came with a price tag and felt heavy when used for prolonged periods.

Reportedly, Vision Pro 2 is expected to have an M4 or M5 chip, thus replacing the M2 chip in the current model. There are mixed reports on whether Apple will use the M4 or the unreleased M5 chip, but either chip will be a huge performance jump, especially for AI-related applications.

One other huge upgrade is going to be a new head strap. One of the most common complaints about the headset is the weight of it, which can really build discomfort the longer it is used.

Apple will introduce a redesigned strap to give some relief for neck strain and pressure on the head, which is one of the Vision Pro's biggest hardware issues.

In terms of AI, the company is apparently testing versions of Vision Pro 2 with a better Neural Engine. The current version has a 16-core neural engine, and the next version could possibly bump that number, which, in turn, will improve real-time AI integration with things like rendering virtual environments and

Overall, the Vision Pro 2 is expected to be a spec-focused update, improving performance and comfort while retaining the original design and price point. While current owners may not rush to upgrade, Apple may offer the new strap as a standalone accessory, giving first-gen users a meaningful comfort boost without buying an entirely new headset.
